Gentle Ladies and Grotesque Men:
Each of us believes ourselves to be unique. To the point that know one can understand how each of us feels. Now it is true that no one but you has a front row seat to your life, and it is also true that only you are having your experience with whatever situation is happening in your life. However, to say that your sadness is different than anyone else’s is not true. You may have arrived at such a feeling via another path yet sadness is sadness. It’s the same biochemical reaction happening in you that happens in all of us. In this way we are the same. Each of us a walking chemical reactor producing enormous amounts of energy with each reaction. Reactions we tend to want to avoid out of some fear it will somehow destroy us. Yet it doesn’t. Sorrow, or emotional turmoil, itself is only an energy producing event. The way in which we cope with it however can be detrimental to our well being. And there are lots of ways in which we strive to drown out our distress. Why do we fear it so much? Would it not be better to focus that energy towards a more productive cause? I told you the emotions will not kill you yet we act as if they will. And run right into the things that destroy our vessels. No matter what you believe in, when we seek outside ourselves for comfort or to find a feel good to change our insides, that outward object has become your god. And those objects take on many forms. As my Creator said to me through his humble servant, “Why do you seek beyond you that which is already within you?” We can think our way into disaster or into healing. We can chose to be bitter or to forgive and move forward. Remember you are only a victim at the beginning, how you choose to cope is your chose and therefore makes us a participant in life.
