The Resourceful NP

As a mother and nurse, I know how important it is to maintain health insurance coverage for unexpected medical needs. However, for many people paying a health insurance premium means not being able to afford food for the month. That's why I'm excited to partner with .gov ! Four out of five customers can find plans for $10 or less with financial assistance designed to help make it more affordable. Health plans at HealthCare.gov cover an array of essential health benefits such as: annual wellness exams, acute care visits, hospitalizations, women's services, prescription drugs and mental health services. HealthCare.gov’s annual enrollment period is now open and runs through January 15. It’s simple to compare health insurance options right on the site and enroll in a plan that works for you and your family. Enroll in a plan on HealthCare.gov by December 15 and get covered starting January 1. Let's start 2022 on a good note by making our health a priority! https://lnk2.io/wnttlhb

Many new grads like myself get their start doing HRA visits for a staffing company. These companies usually recruit NPs in the designated areas to perform visits for commercial insurance companies. Although there’s good money to be made be aware of a few important things along with those mentioned in the TikTok:
📌During visits, always stay near an exit. Safety is FIRST! If the area is sketchy or makes you uncomfortable notify your superior, and they can reschedule with another provider. 📌your location so that they know where you are.
📌 Ask if you’ll be required to use ur personal vehicle and what your territory is. Set boundaries on how far you’ll drive. Most times you’ll be using your own car.. ask about mileage and expense reimbursement!
📌 How will you be paid? Is it per visit or daily? Ideally you’d want daily rate plus bonus. What’s the rate? How many patients per day? What’s the incentive if you see more than that? My initial contract was $400/day for 4 patients anything over was an extra $100😉 some days I saw 8 patients.
📌 Will you have an assistant? Some companies provide a ride along nurse to do vitals while you conduct the visit and chart. This helps with safety as well as time spent charting afterwards.
📌 Is it contract or full time? There will be seasons of MONEY to be made during enrollment period then months of “no available visit lists”. In this case don’t quit any other jobs you may have because they don’t provide benefits. Don’t be like I was and find yourself unemployed😩
📌Call ahead of time to verify time and if patient will be available. Saves gas and time in your day. Also allows them to put up any animals if you’re afraid. I can tell you how many 🐶🐱 I’ve had to maneuver around to get a BP!!👩🏽⚕️
