FROM DYSLEXIC TO AUTHOR

When I was in third grade, my English teacher stood baffled, trying to figure out why I aced mathematics but failed miserably in reading, writing, reading comprehension, and especially spelling. After a series of tests and “experts,” it was determined that I had severe dyslexia.

Fast forward 15 years to college. At that time, I was a radical Buddhist, an alcoholic, chronically depressed and minutes from taking my own life. That afternoon, as a last ditch effort, I cried out to God for the first time and He responded, speaking audibly to two young women, strangers, who happened to be driving in front of my house at that specific moment. God instructed them to stop their car, get out, knock on my door, and tell the boy who answered that all the answers he was seeking were in the Bible and ONLY the Holy Bible. That boy was me. I was saved that afternoon, becoming a Christian, after encountering the love of God. And, six months later the God who answered my desperate cry for help used me to lead the two women who were Mormons and six additional Mormons out of Mormonism and into a true and passionate relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

DYSLEXIA HEALED
At my first Bible study with them, two weeks after meeting them, they opened the Bible to John 14:6 and handed me the book, asking me to read the highlighted verse out loud. In addition to dyslexia, I also suffered from a severe stutter, especially when reading out loud or speaking in public. My chest tightened with anxiety because I expected to struggle as I read due. I looked down at the scripture and started to read each word slowly, word by word, and line by line. Remarkably, I realized that I was reading without issues or stutter for the first time in 24 years. I was fully healed!

Today, over 20 years after my encounter, I am a Pastor of God Manifest, a small house church of ~45 fiery and loving members, and co-own a publishing company with my wife as the Chief Marketing Officer reading and writing thousands of pages every month, and I published two books, my first in 2019 titled “Buddhists, Mormons & Jesus,” and my second in 2023 titled “Sandy: Arise and Shine.” And, I have five additional books in various stages of creation.
