HANDS: I hate them, drawing them, but they are important to life and as elements in portraits. If you are going to include them you must be able to represent in a way that reads well compared to the other elements of the work. In other words... don’t f**k up the hands. These hands are from 2 different works in progress.

To be a young man and not a young black man. We label ourselves in a set apart fashion because we have often been disregarded as simply men or women. As much as they want us to feel outcast or set apart we are men and women. The black is evident and proud. Another image from my series centered around the people that make what it is. There was a look of strength and warmth in her face. The kind that we know from those strong black women who are closest to us and whom we love with everything in us. FAMILIAR is the highest compliment I’ve gotten from anyone who have seen these drawing or the reference images me and my bro Chap displayed at ’s . The people I represent are me, they are you, they are the people we love. If you don’t feel that in my work... I haven’t done my job. If you know her tag her.
