Hunt for the Wilderpeople is written and directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, of “Eagle vs. Shark,” “Boy” and “What We Do in the Shadows” previously. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and has become Aotearoa’s #1 film at the box office.

Taika has a strong connection to Hawaii and edited the film in Honolulu last year.
