No goddess reflects Scorpio more deeply than Persephone.

Not because she ruled death, but because she learned how to walk into darkness and emerge transformed.

Before she became Queen of the Underworld, Persephone was the daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Her life changed forever when Hades carried her into his realm beneath the earth, where she would eventually become his queen.

Whether told as an abduction, a political marriage, or a story later reimagined through different traditions, one truth remains the same.

Persephone did not return as the woman she had been.

She crossed a threshold that could never be undone.

That is the heart of Scorpio.

Scorpio is the zodiac’s sign of descent. It is drawn toward what lies beneath appearances, seeking truth in the places others fear to enter. It understands loss, endings, hidden power, secrets, desire, and the transformation that comes from facing what cannot be avoided.

Persephone’s yearly journey mirrors this cycle.

Each autumn she descends into the Underworld, and the earth falls into silence. The fields grow bare, the leaves wither, and nature appears to die.

Each spring she returns, bringing renewal, growth, and life back to the world.

Her story reminds us that death and rebirth are not opposites.

They are partners.

Nothing blooms forever.

Nothing remains buried forever.

Everything moves in cycles.

Scorpio carries this wisdom within its symbol.

It knows that every ending asks something to be surrendered before something stronger can emerge.

This is why Scorpio is often misunderstood.

Its purpose is not destruction for its own sake.

Its purpose is transformation.

To strip away illusion.

To reveal hidden truths.

To survive what others believe impossible.

To emerge with a deeper understanding of power.

Persephone became sovereign not by avoiding the Underworld, but by learning to rule within it.

She did not remain a victim of her story.

She became one of its most powerful figures.

Scorpio teaches the same lesson.

Real strength is not found in never falling.

It is found in returning from the darkness carrying wisdom that only the descent could reveal.

Persephone reminds us that every winter contains the promise of spring.

Scorpio reminds us that every ending carries the first heartbeat of a new beginning.

Yesterday's Waning Moon was for cutting and clearing. Today, it's time to take care of the space we just cleared.

We're sitting in Berkano this fortnight: the birch, the Mother, healing and new growth. This Circle, we'll practice grounding without numbing, and then we'll look at the skill of re-mothering ourselves when we ARE the adult in the room.

Elements of Invocation teaches the ancient art of drawing a Deity into a human vessel to speak and move through us. You've heard of "Drawing Down the Moon" or the idea of speaking with the Voice of a God. It's one of the cornerstone skills in the WISE-ATC tradition of Wicca, and it is definitely one you want to learn in person, from someone who's done it in public ritual for years.

This class covers the full spectrum of invocation practice, from simple prayer and communion to full possession, how to draw that energy down into yourself, discernment (ALWAYS important!), and the little things like accidental invocation, when the deities reach out first, and how to guarantee a clean release.

Brand new? You're welcome, too. This is a foundational skill, and we teach to all levels. Bring an open mind and a little courage.
