🌀Why Do Hurricanes Have Names? 🌀
Ever wonder why hurricanes are named like people?
Names are easy to hear and remember.
They help emergency teams give clear warnings.
They prevent mix-ups when more than one storm is swirling.
🌀Naming hurricanes officially began in the 1950's! There are 6 lists of alphabetical names for Atlantic hurricanes. The lists rotate every year for six years. Storms that are exceptionally big or cause a lot of damage are retired forever and replaced with a new name.
