The Purple Thread

One of my favorite parts about working with Urban Souls Yoga is the chance to create experiences like this one.

The idea for this private class for ICU nurses was first brought to me by my sister in law, Sam. But these angels deserved much, much more than just that.

A welcome tea, yoga class, sound bath with reiki healing, and wine and cheese to close. It was an honor to treat these healers with the same care they are constantly giving to others.

It’s a blessing in a way, to perhaps not understand the intensity of a nurse’s job. Maybe it means you’ve never had a reason to. But I feel blessed to have witnessed their superpowers, in both family crisis and also in the life-changing birth of my daughter.

I was 21 when my dad almost died from a sudden scare that elevated to sepsis. It was the nurses (Hi Dawn!) that carried us all through. They were beacons of light and hope and laughter that, against all odds, contributed to a miraculous recovery. Their imprint on us is forever.

Thank you, Sam. For the healing you bring to your patients and clearly - also your coworkers. Part of it may be the job, but much of it is simply you. It’s been such a gift to watch you explore and share the magic.

A week ago I was immersed in “moon joy,” as they’ve called it. The day they landed on Earth, Meme left for her own adventure. All we can keep saying to each other is, even only hours later — we miss her already. Already. Already.

This photo is the day we told my grandparents they were going to be great grandparents. Annie, named after Meme’s mom, was just the size of a cherry, her favorite. Their bond is magical.

3 kids, 6 grandkids, 5 great grandkids, and a best friend to every single one of us + our partners.

We’ll be looking at the moon, but we’ll be seeing you 💫
