With my deepest regrets, I must announce that I will not be at the Merrie Monarch Hula and Hawaiian Craft Fair next week.

My cancer has returned and taken a toll on my health and stamina. I will surely miss seeing you, all the friends I’ve made over the years. I really thought I’d be strong enough to participate in the festival this year, but after 12 weeks of weekly chemotherapy, I had to face reality and focus on rest and healing.

Best wishes to all the halaus competing, their kumus, and the musicians this next week in Hilo. I will be cheering you on from Oahu!
