During Women’s History Month, The Swift Group is proud to continue our tradition of spotlighting the incredible women who help drive our mission forward.

We’re excited to kick off this year’s features with Nicole Travis. Nicole plays a vital role in supporting our employees across subcontract work while strengthening and growing our program and customer relationships. Her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence make a meaningful impact across our organization every day.

We asked Nicole to share her perspective on being a woman in leadership —

How did you get into leadership?
I have been working in the IC for 18+ years and have worked my way from starting in a Help Desk role up to leadership positions like Program Manager on a very large IDIQ contract and eventually moving to Subcontracts Program Manager here at Swift Group. My leadership progression was incremental through each new position I took on and combined with the certifications obtained and going back to school for my MBA, helped me move toward leadership roles.

Advice for other women trying to get into leadership?
There is no one way to reach a leadership position. Follow your own path, work hard and believe in yourself. I have been told along the way I needed to do certain things, obtain certain certifications, but I believed in my own path and work ethic and kept pushing my way forward to move into positions that aligned with my goals.

What is your favorite thing about working for The Swift Group?
The people! Everyone is so nice and willing to help with whatever is needed and coming up to speed fast, I appreciate all the friendly attitudes and help.
