State Representative Moira Rader

As the legislative session has wrapped up, there are a lot of successes, as well as a few hard fought losses, that I will reflect on and share with you over the next few weeks. But, for today, I want to share a tremendous win for every student in Connecticut Over the course of my four years as a state legislator, I have fought fiercely for many things. But, the one thing I have consistently kept as a top priority has been around addressing food insecurity and the need for universal free meals in our schools. It is with tremendous gratitude to my colleagues, advocates, and leadership that I was able to help lead the effort towards universal free breakfast in every school in Connecticut this year. We know, without a doubt, that providing a meal to our students at the very beginning of their day helps them to be more regulated, focused, and supported in their learning. As someone who has been deeply involved in public education as a parent, BOE member and legislator, I am so deeply grateful for this very important investment in our students & their success! .

Serving my community as State Representative has been and continues to be one of the great honors of my life. That is why I am so excited to share that I am running for reelection!

Currently in my second term, I have been humbled by the extraordinary support and collaboration with colleagues, constituents and communities across the state. I love what I do and understand, more than ever, how critical it is to be leading with compassion, strength and courage. My success in this role is only because of the people that surround me, collaborate with me and support this critical work. It’s a team effort, every day. We all know what’s at stake. And I know our state and country deserve only our best efforts to preserve and protect our freedoms, our diversity and our future.

As always, I am running a grassroots campaign, powered by the Connecticut citizens election grant program. I need to raise $6700 from 150 people in my community to qualify. Once I reach that goal, the fundraising ends and the focus returns 100% to my work in the legislature.
