I get asked all the time how to fix Fender Tremolo thump, especially in 6G2 Princeton amps, so here's how I do it:
For trem thump: Diode across the outer lugs of Intensity pot. (Note polarity in the pic)
For trem pulse: this is actually interference, and is commonly picked up crossing the board to the grid of trem oscillator side of the second preamp tube. I use shielded wire from the Trem signal input, and it works every time.
I usually just use shielded wire anytime I run lead wire across/under/over the board. It prevents interference from getting into the signal and helps keep the noise floor down.
