Over the past year I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of work I want to build long-term.

That led to starting a new business called Clean Slate Home Services.

It may sound simple, but the idea behind it is meaningful to me.

A clean home can bring order, clarity, and peace to people’s lives....and sometimes that’s something we all need more of.

Clean Slate is built around integrity, first and foremost. We bring research, professional protocols, careful residential cleaning and home organization. The focus isn’t speed or cutting corners. The focus is doing the work properly and treating people’s homes with respect.

One of the things that makes this special for me is that I’ll be working alongside my mom. She spent time working in hotel housekeeping at Marriott, and later held a contractors license and ran a successful small construction company with my stepfather. We know what quality work looks like and take pride in doing things right the first time.

Between her experience and my background in engineering and healthcare, we’re trying to build something thoughtful and professional that serves people well.

Starting a business is always a leap, but the goal is simple:

Build something honest.
Serve our community well.
Do work we can be proud of.

In the last 48 hours I found out something that will save me so much time.

Being a parent, caregiver, or just getting sick myself makes me dread sitting in the waiting room for hours to be checked out. Especially if it's for something that's not severe, but persistent and annoying.

I knew you could get tested for flu, COVID, or strep at a pharmacy. What I DID NOT know is that in many states the pharmacist can prescribe treatments for those things on the spot.... It would have been great to know Sunday when I sat for 4 hours at urgent care with my son.

I just learned that in some states, pharmacists can offer testing for things like flu, COVID, and strep. In certain cases, and under state-approved protocols, they can also start treatment right at the pharmacy. This doesn’t apply everywhere and not every pharmacy offers it, but it surprised me because it can save a lot of time compared to sitting in urgent care when symptoms are mild.

Sharing because it was new information to me and might be helpful for others navigating the healthcare system.

Always check state rules and local pharmacy services. Seek medical care if symptoms are severe or worsening.
