1969 Pontiac Firebird

As some may know I recently added Global West Cat 5 spherical bearing leaf springs to my 1969 Firebird. However the Ridetech subframe connectors I had been using just aren’t designed for this type of setup. Although I modified their integrated front mount, I couldn’t tame the ride quality from repeated contact from the leaf spring eyes.

A swap became necessary. Global West designs an open leaf spring mount with studs that offer clearance for the leaf springs to tilt and articulate, while still providing additional strength in the spring eye pocket.

This change also necessitates using different subframe connectors. I opted for Global West’s interlocking and weld-in connectors. These things are seriously beefy and the powder coat is very nice. A solid rear body bushing that is shortened to accommodate the .2” thick steel box is also provided.

I don’t mess around without subframe connectors on this car after almost ripping the body from the frame without them.
