Finding the right support can change everything. 💜

When a family is impacted by sibling sexual trauma and abuse (SSTA), it can feel overwhelming to know where to turn. The good news is—you don’t have to navigate it alone.

In my newest blog, I’ve gathered trusted organizations and resources that provide education, support, treatment information, advocacy, and hope for:
✨ Parents & caregivers
✨ Survivors
✨ Mental health professionals
✨ Anyone wanting to better understand SSTA

Healing begins with information, connection, and knowing that help exists.

💜 You are not alone.
💜 There is support.
💜 There is hope.

Every child deserves a safe place to share their story. ❤️

As a therapist, author, and parent, I wrote Rosie’s Big Secret to help children understand that they are never alone, their feelings matter, and there are trusted adults who will listen.

Sometimes a story is the first step toward healing.

If this book helps even one child find the courage to speak up, it has done exactly what it was created to do.

I had the privilege of attending the first-ever conference dedicated to Sibling Sexual Trauma & Abuse (SSTA), and I am still reflecting on the power of what we experienced together.
To witness survivors bravely sharing their stories, families finding connection and hope, advocates leading change, and professionals committed to learning was truly unforgettable.
For far too long, sibling sexual trauma and abuse has remained hidden in silence. This conference proved that the silence is being broken. Together, we created a space where survivors were believed, families felt less alone, and difficult conversations could finally happen without shame.
As both a mental health therapist and a parent, this experience was deeply meaningful. It reminded me that healing happens in connection, that education creates change, and that every voice matters.
Thank you to everyone who shared their story, listened with compassion, asked hard questions, and stood together to bring awareness to SSTA. This is only the beginning.
May we continue to educate, advocate, support families, and ensure that no survivor or parent ever has to feel alone again.
💙 Together, we are giving a voice to what has been silent for far too long.

When a child displays problematic sexual behaviors families often experience fear, confusion, and panic about what comes next

There is hope

Many don’t realize there are evidence based treatment options. Early intervention can help children learn healthy boundaries, empathy, improve decision making and reduce future risk

In my newest blog I discuss this topic. Seeking help is not a sign of failure— it’s an act of protection, accountability and hope

One of the hardest truths about child abuse is that many children want to tell, but there are powerful reasons they stay silent.

Children may not speak up because they:
• Are scared they won’t be believed
• Feel ashamed or blame themselves
• Have been threatened
• Love the person hurting them
• Don’t have the words to explain what happened
• Fear getting someone in trouble
• Feel unsafe talking to adults

This is why creating safe, calm, supportive relationships with children matters so much. The way adults respond can change whether a child feels safe enough to share.

When a child does tell:
✨ Believe them
✨ Stay calm
✨ Listen without judgment
✨ Reassure them it is not their fault
✨ Help them connect to safe support

Sometimes the most important thing we can say is:
“I’m glad you told me.”

Sibling sexual trauma and/or abuse is one of the most misunderstood and under discussed forms of trauma — yet so many families are silent carrying the weight of it’s impact

In my newest blog learn about the stigma surrounding SSTA, the silence often faced, and why education, support, and honest conversations matter for healing

My hope is that by speaking openly we can reduce shame, increase understanding, and help families know they are not alone

✨ Healing begins when silence is broken ❤️‍🩹
