Enjoying being in my element on the water catching fish, soaking up the sunshine, listening to the blackbirds sing and the wind whistle through the cattails ~

This outing the chatterbait, senko, and frittside crank bait from were key in catching. Water temps reached around 57-59 degrees which dropped from the week before as the bays started hitting close to 65. Largemouth bass are moving in and staging for the spawn! ⁣Excited to soak up more of spring!

Reminiscing last ice season — it was a good one with lots of laughter surrounded by friends and family with plenty of healthy fish caught.

Unfortunately my season has not started yet. We had a solid cold snap and decent ice by mid-December while I was a busy bee wrapping up year-end at work and gearing up for the holidays. As soon as my break started before Christmas the ice melted away. This is exactly what happened last year. La Niña is predicted to bring warmer and wetter conditions on average this season with cold snaps so curious to see how it shakes out. The upcoming forecast looks nice and cold so the lakes shall freeze soon and hopefully stick!

We need it — for the lakes, the ecosystems, and to reset systems that depend on it.

First snow magic ❄️✨

Winter layers are officially dialed in while nature is shifting and slowing into the cold weather rhythm. Fresh snow reveals new tracks, hidden trails, and that slower kind of wildness that helps a busy mind like mine pause and breathe with Mother Nature.

From frosty hikes to frozen lake adventures, I’m ready for all the winter vibes! Lakes aren’t frozen here yet, but they will be soon. Hiking snowy trails, shredding the slopes, and of course ice fishing are a few of my favorite ways to embrace the season.
