Fantastic Saturday night with great company & conversation at EBERLY on South Lamar in Austin. With outstanding chic American cuisine and amazing cocktails mixed at the Cedar Tavern Bar (transported from Greenwich Village in NYC… check out their website for the full story). The highlight cocktail was the “Nick The Lounge Singer”, mixed with Wild Turkey 101, ginger, lemon, and angostura bitters… We highly recommend the restaurant and the cocktail for a special night out!

Just returned from a work trip in northern Norway and had to share this extra special Bivrost Spirits Asgard Arctic Single Malt Whisky which is handcrafted under the Northern Lights at the Aurora Spirit Distillery, the northernmost distillery in the world. Distilled using purified glacier water and arctic barley, they store the whisky in Viking longhouses, just a few yards from the Arctic Sea in bourbon & muscat casks. The result is a peaty & earthy 46 ABV whisky with surprising complexity and depth.

We highly recommend if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a bottle!

It’s Sunday funday again but windy and overcast… the perfect day for some reading and reflection. We’re starting with an expression we’ve wanted to sample for a while- WhistlePig Whiskey Piggyback Rye. Weighing in at 96.56 proof, the Piggyback is aged 6 years and sports a bold, spicy flavor profile glowing with pepper, cinnamon, and vanilla as expected from a 100% rye mashbill (whereas most rye whiskeys hover just above the required 51%).

We’re pairing the 6 year old Piggyback with the ultra popular read among bourbon aficionados, Barrel Strength Bourbon by Carla Harris Carlton. With glowing reviews, gorgeous images, and an insightful, funny narrative, we’re confident today will be a Sunday funday well spent…
