This episode of Next Level Thinkers: A Charting New Horizons of Brilliance gets into what happens when life forces you into a version of yourself you didn’t choose. I sat down with Dave Hausmann DC, a man who died three times, survived one of the deadliest infections in the world, and woke up to a completely different reality. We talked about that space where you can’t think your way out of it and you can’t rely on what used to work. There’s a moment where everything you built no longer applies, and you have to decide who you are without it. At some point, it really does become you versus you.

Dr. Hausmann’s injury wasn’t just losing a leg, it was everything around it collapsing at the same time. A rare infection took over his body in hours, led to multiple surgeries, life support, and a decision that would change his life permanently. But what stood out wasn’t just what happened physically, it was what happened mentally and internally after. We talked about surrender, not in a passive way, but in a way where you stop fighting what you can’t control and start paying attention to who you’re becoming. He also broke down the difference between discomfort and actual danger, and how most of us get that wrong more often than we realize.

This conversation sits right at the core of what Next Level Thinkers is about. It’s not about going through something, it’s about what you do with it after and how it shows up in how you live and lead. This episode will make you look at where you’re still holding onto control and where you might be giving your power away without noticing it. It also pushes you to ask a better question, not what do I need to do, but who do I need to be right now. Because when things change like that, the old version of you doesn’t carry you forward, something else has to.

What if the problem was never a lack of discipline?
In this episode of Next Level Thinkers: Charting New Horizons of Brilliance, I sit down with Dr. Ian Ellis, lead physician of Voafit for one of the most honest and eye-opening conversations we’ve had on health, appetite, GLP-1 therapies, and the hidden physiology behind why so many people feel stuck.

Dr. Ellis breaks down the real struggle behind weight loss, food noise, metabolic imbalance, and the limits of white-knuckling your way to health. He shares his own journey through obsession, burnout, medical training, and the discovery that changed the direction of his work: the issue isn’t always effort. Often, it’s the environment, the body’s set points, and the way appetite is driving behavior beneath the surface.

We also get into:
-Why so many people blame themselves unfairly
-What standard GLP-1 protocols may be missing
-The difference between aesthetics and actual health
-How balance, precision, and individualized care can change outcomes

This is a conversation for anyone who has ever tried hard, stayed disciplined, and still wondered why something felt off.

Sitting across from Bob Thomas and Sheila Hunt for this episode of Next Level Thinkers | A Charting A New Horizons of Brilliance felt less like hosting a podcast and more like being invited into the private architecture of two lives that have pushed past the surface of “fitness” and into something far more human. They’ve lived every angle of this work, the rise, the rupture, the rebuilding, and the conviction it takes to keep showing up when the body and the spirit are both tired.

Sheila spoke first, and she didn’t start with her IFBB Pro status or the brand she built through Body By Sheila. She started with loss, her grandmother, her marriage, her sense of stability. Most people would have folded under that season. Instead, she rebuilt her life rep by rep and prayer by prayer. Hearing her talk about how faith and discipline pulled her out of that valley reminded me why fitness has always been more than mechanics. It’s therapy with a pulse.

Then Bob stepped in with a different kind of truth. Four decades shaping an industry through clubs, corporate strategy, and now his work at NexGen Scientific have made him a force in this space, but it was his personal honesty that caught me. When he told the story of gaining seventy-five pounds on purpose just to test the GLP-1s and peptides he now teaches the world about, it wasn’t bravado. It was responsibility. A leader proving his system with his own body.

And those peptides, MOTS-c, BPC-157, GLP-1s, they aren’t trends. They’re part of a new conversation about healing, inflammation, recovery, and what’s possible when science meets intention.

What struck me most, though, wasn’t the innovation. It was the honesty. There were moments off-mic that opened doors we weren’t ready to walk through yet. Big questions. Necessary ones.

And we’re not done with them. Not even close.💯
