A few years ago, while spending the night in the city with my wife and kids, I went onto OpenTable and made a dinner reservation at Tribeca Grill. When we checked in with the Maître d’, he welcomed me with a thank you for taking such good care of their kitchen. It took me aback because in all the years of going out to eat in the city unannounced, it was the first time a customer knew who I was. The restaurant proceeded to treat me and my family like we were celebrities. From free appetizers to serving us the entire dessert menu on the house, it was an epic dining experience. My kids still talk about it to this day, and I felt pretty damn cool in their eyes that night.
