Our Moments Together in the Kitchen
01/24/2026
Our date night tasting for Our Moments Together in the Kitchen didn’t happen the way we planned.
A winter storm rolled in, plans unraveled, and I found myself staring at a cancellation I didn’t want to make. I hesitated to even ask but out of the blue, I asked for helpers anyway.
And then… a sweet military spouse stepped into my messages.
She didn’t just help me do things she helped me see. She saw the vision we carry for this book before it’s even published. When I shared my heart about wanting a thank-you gift something tangible so people could remember us even though the book isn’t in their hands yet she lit up and said,
“What if one of your recipes became the gift?”
And just like that… a recipe in a jar was born.
She helped print things, drop things off, calm my spiraling thoughts, and gently walk me toward the hard but right decision to cancel. She reminded me I wasn’t alone in it.
The storm did come.
So today, instead of hosting, we cooked. We made the recipe together in the crockpot warm, simple, comforting. (Yes, she got one too.)
I’m reminded again that God is always working in the pauses, the cancellations, the disappointments. Sometimes the gathering looks different than we imagined, but the connection is still holy.
This book has always been about more than food. It’s about community, obedience, and trusting that even when plans change, His purpose does not.
Grateful for helpers, for military spouses who show up without being asked twice, and for a God who turns storms into stories. 💙🙏❄️
