This is an economic base kit for those on a budget. I have it prepared to accept Kadee 803 coupler kits, I have a coupler box installed to check fit and finish. I plan to use .032 rod for the ratcheting mechanism to test fit and finish.
I hope you can appreciate the work this takes in CAD. I enjoy it immensely and it’s a great way for me to decompress after work.

I have an interest in these "hit and miss" engines, mainly in the western US and how the where used in mining and logging/industrial applications. I took these yesterday in Gladewater TX, it's an oil field display in the downtown area beside the UP east/west mainline. Interesting technology used in the oil field and many industrial applications, as well as smaller versions used in homesteads to power anything they needed, from farm equipment to the household washing machine.

This ca. 1896 photo shows a locomotive named "The Helena" that was used to transport ore about a mile from the Iron Mountain Mine to the ore bin at the top of the incline tram, where it was then lowered to the mill at Pardee, Montana. This was an unusual setup, which was probably the reason for the photo opportunity. Note the dogs on top of the train.
