⚠️ Mesoscale Discussion Update (3:40 PM):

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a new Mesoscale Discussion highlighting the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms to continue moving southeast this evening.

The primary concern remains damaging wind gusts, along with frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and isolated small hail. The SPC also notes that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch may eventually be needed for parts of northern Alabama if current storm trends continue.

If you have outdoor plans this evening, now is a good time to stay weather aware and have a way to receive warnings. I’ll continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if a watch is issued or storms begin strengthening as they approach our area.

⚠️ Mesoscale Discussion ⚠️

The Storm Prediction Center has issued a Mesoscale Discussion for parts of northern Arkansas, western Tennessee, northern Mississippi, and the extreme northwest corner of Lauderdale County.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon, with the primary threat being damaging wind gusts. A few storms could also produce small hail. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch may be needed for portions of the discussion area later today.

At this time, this is not a cause for significant concern locally, as only the extreme northwest corner of Lauderdale County is included. However, it is something I’ll continue to monitor in case the area of concern expands eastward.

Good evening!

Posting this tonight since I won’t get a chance to tomorrow morning.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more numerous tomorrow afternoon and evening as a boundary moves into the region. Storms will remain scattered in nature, meaning some locations may stay dry for much of the day while others receive heavy downpours.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of north Alabama under a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms tomorrow. The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, heavy rainfall, and small hail. A tornado threat is not expected at this time.

If you have outdoor plans tomorrow, be sure to keep an eye on the radar and have a way to receive weather alerts. Not everyone will see rain, but any storm that develops could become strong and produce hazardous weather.

I’ll continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates if anything changes.

Good morning everyone!

Expect possible scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with the greatest coverage this morning and additional storms possible this afternoon. If storms do occur, heavy downpours and frequent lightning will be the primary hazards. Widespread severe weather is not expected today.

Highs will reach the mid 80s to around 90 with humid conditions continuing. Rain and storm chances increase even more on Friday, when a few storms could become strong to severe with damaging wind gusts the main concern.

As always, I’ll keep you updated. Have a great Thursday!

Good morning, everyone!

A few patches of fog could linger through the morning, but conditions should gradually improve by late morning. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon and evening. While widespread severe weather isn't expected, a few stronger storms could produce gusty winds, small hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rainfall.

With storms moving slowly, localized flooding and ponding on roadways will be possible where the heaviest rain falls. Highs will top out in the upper 80s, with heat index values reaching the upper 90s before storms develop.

Rain and storm chances will continue each afternoon through much of the week as we settle into a typical summertime weather pattern.

As always, I'll keep you updated. I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning everyone!

A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 7 PM Saturday as heat index values climb to 105-109° this afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop from this afternoon into the evening, and a few could become strong to severe. The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts up to 65 mph, frequent lightning, small hail, and localized flash flooding due to slow-moving storms. Similar to the last few days, some areas may see rain and others may not.

If you’re spending time outdoors today, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Stay weather aware if you have outdoor plans. I hope you all have a great day.

⚠️ Severe Thunderstorm Watch ⚠️

The watch is in effect until 8 PM for Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties. Damaging wind gusts are the primary threat, but hail, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours are also possible.

Stay weather aware this afternoon and evening and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Good Morning Everyone!

The SPC has highlighted a Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms remains in place across portions of North Alabama this afternoon and evening.

There is also another dangerously hot day ahead of us, with heat index values between 110-114 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop during the late afternoon and continue into the evening. The atmosphere will be very unstable, allowing some storms to become strong to severe in a short amount of time.

Main threats include damaging straight-line winds, small hail, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, and torrential downpours.

Not everyone will see a storm, but any storm that develops could produce strong wind gusts capable of downing trees and power lines.

I will be monitoring radar throughout the afternoon and evening and will provide updates if warnings become necessary. Stay weather aware, especially if you have outdoor plans.
