The rendering for the Huntsville Alabama Temple has been released. The location for the temple was announced three months ago as a 21-acre property located southeast of the intersection of Gillespie Road and Browns Ferry Road in Madison, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet. It will be the second temple constructed in Alabama, joining the Birmingham Alabama Temple (2000). To turn this Easter season into a sacred journey with your family that not only walks through the events in the Holy Land but also embraces the unique insights we have as Latter-day Saints about His post-Resurrection ministry in the Americas. Here’s a week-by-week breakdown of how you can celebrate those key days and focus areas with gospel-centered family activities, scripture study, and reverent reflection.

Friday, April 12 – Passover
Focus: Deliverance, Covenant, and the Last Supper
Suggested Activities:
Read Exodus 12 (the original Passover) and Luke 22:7–20 (The Last Supper).
Set a reverent Passover-style meal—perhaps grape juice and unleavened bread—to represent what Christ instituted as the sacrament. Also consider a “meal in the eyes of Jesus” in candle light—eat bread, fruit (peaches, berries, pomegranate), olives and olive oil, and lamb, steak, or fish.
Discuss how the Savior's Atonement fulfilled the promise of deliverance from sin.

Sunday, April 13 – Palm Sunday
Focus: Jesus' Triumphal Entry and His role as Messiah
Suggested Activities:
Read Matthew 21:1–11, Zechariah 9:9, and 3 Nephi 11:8–11.
Let your children cut out and wave homemade palm leaves, reenacting Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem.
Talk about how we can personally "welcome" Jesus into our hearts and lives.

Friday, April 18 – Good Friday
Focus: The Crucifixion and Atonement
Suggested Activities:
Read Luke 23 or John 19.
Watch “The Christ: Suffering in Gethsemane” and “The Crucifixion” on the Gospel Library app or website.
Consider a family fast or quiet hour in the day to reflect and pray.

Sunday, April 20 – Easter Sunday
Focus: The Resurrection
Suggested Activities:
Read Luke 24 and John 20.
Watch “He Is Risen” or the Easter episode from The Chosen or Church videos.
Testify as a family of the living Christ. Share personal witnesses and gratitude.
Start a new Easter tradition: a “Resurrection Egg Hunt” with scripture verses inside instead of candy.

April 21–May 28 – 40 Days After Resurrection
Focus: Christ’s teachings to His disciples, and His visit to the Americas
Week-by-week Study Plan:
Week 1 – Luke 24:13–53 (Road to Emmaus and teaching the disciples)
Week 2 – John 21 (Appears to disciples at the Sea of Galilee)
Week 3 – Matthew 28 & Acts 1 (Great Commission and Ascension preview)
Week 4 – 3 Nephi 11 (His arrival in the Americas)
Week 5 – 3 Nephi 12–18 (Sermon at the temple, institution of the sacrament)
Week 6 – 3 Nephi 19–28 (Ordaining disciples, teaching doctrine, prayers)
Family Activities:
Create a Resurrection Journal—record what you learn each week about Jesus' ministry after resurrection.
Let each family member choose one of Christ’s teachings to present to the family.
Act out scenes like the Savior blessing the children or teaching the multitude.

Thursday, May 29 – Ascension
Focus: Christ’s return to the Father
Suggested Activities:
Read Acts 1:6–11 and 3 Nephi 28:1–13.
Discuss the promise of His return and our role as disciples today.
Have a family testimony meeting centered on “What I believe about the living Christ.”
