CHAPTER HISTORY Omicron Rho Chapter – Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Flint Michigan Early 1964, several Brothers of Omega Psi Phi in Flint were informed that there were several Omega men in the Flint area by “word of mouth” and by coming into contac
t with each other through their employment. Willis, Samuel Dismond and Roy Diggs, all physicians, were in contact at the local hospitals. Price, another local physician, had attended Wayne State University with Diggs and Willis were members of Wayne State Chapter of Omega. Herman Marable and Charles H. Smith, Registered Medical Technologist at McLaren General Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital respectively, knew some of the Omegas who were practicing physicians at those hospitals. Price was acquainted with a local Architect, Brother Quentin Garland. Price and Wilson, both local physicians, were acquainted with two physicians from Saginaw, Michigan, Brother John E. Carter and Brother William Terry. Brother John G. Robertson, who had worked as a Substitute Teacher, “Insurance Agent”, and a “Inhalation Therapist”, was acquainted with many of the local Omega physicians, and Brother Malcom Corrin, who was the Insurance Representative for Great Lakes Insurance Company. Robertson also knew Brother Tyree Walter and Brother Aaron Smith who were employment with the Flint school system. Brother Southall took the initiative to write to the Omega headquarters for information to be a chapter organized, since it was obvious that we had more than the required number of men to form a Chapter. Our first meeting was held March 28, 1964 at Southall’s office. Brother Malcom Corrin acted as Chairman of the meeting. Ten Brothers were presented and decided to continue trying to get our chapter. Brothers in attendance were Brother Roy Diggs, Warren E. Southall, John G. Robertson, Robert Willis, Calvin V. Price, Charles Smith, Malcon Corrin, Quentin Garland, Clarence Wilson and Herman Marable. At this first meeting, the following officers were elected:

The first committee appointed was a “Program Committee”, consisting of Charles H. Smith, Calvin V. Price, Roy Diggs, and John G. Robertson. 5 The Chapter of Omicron Rho was presented at the home of Brother Robert E. Willis on May 15, 1964. Brother Leo Zinn representing the National Fraternity, Brother M. Garnett who was District Counselor of Omega and Chairman of Recommendations Committee with the Grand Chapter of Omega, was also in attendance. Brother Garnett had also been Grand Basileus.
