where he worked for various different companies over a span of 10 years, working in Indianapolis and many of the surrounding areas. It was there in 1997 that he was promoted to crew supervisor, a position at which he thrived until leaving the company in October of 2006. While a crew leader he was trained by Eric Filipow, a man whom he considers to be one of the best carpenters he had ever worked with. Eric was responsible for teaching him the finer points of building homes, an area which Greg was lacking in the beginning. With all of this knowledge Eric had instilled in him, Greg was able to excel at his job and finally gained the confidence to strike out on his own, and open GKB Construction

Through his years in the field, Greg has learned that hard work, a happy and skilled crew, and a good client relationship are the keys to building quality homes, decks and any other project he takes on. He has taken the skills he has learned from each of the companies he has worked for and implement them into his own company’s standards, policies and beliefs. Greg’s passion for carpentry came from both of his grandfathers. One of his grandfathers ran his own framing company, the other was a carpenter by hobby. Both men influenced him from a young age, but it wasn’t until his freshman year of high school that fate led him to follow in their footsteps. With his initial choice of automotive class was full, he decided to take the Building Trades class instead. That choice has led him into an industry that he has enjoyed for 24 years now. From time to time, Greg finds himself driving by some of the houses that he has helped build, just to see how they are holding up. Eric once told him “when you finish building a home, and hand it over to the homeowner, it’s like watching your own child leave the nest. Sometimes you feel the need to check up on them to see
how they have aged”. Outside of work, Greg is the father of two boys, and is very active in both family life and volunteer work. Having earned the Eagle Scout rank as a youth in Boy Scouts, he and his wife both now work year round with their son's troop. During the winter months, he coaches and referees at an indoor soccer league, working with kids from age 9 to 18. For the past six years, they have welcomed a total of nine teenage fosterchildren into their home, working to either reunite them with birth families, or to prepare them for adulthood.
