We Were Military

On November 11, 1921, the first Unknown Soldier was re-buried at Arlington National Cemetery. The tomb bears the inscription: “Here rests in honored glory An American Soldier Known but to God.” The Arlington National Cemetery is located in Virginia across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial.

Did you know that five states have more than one million veterans? California is home to about 2.1 million veterans; Florida and Texas, 1.7 million each; and New York and Pennsylvania, 1 million each. In fact, as of the last year for which there are figures, there are about 23.2 million veterans in the U.S.
