The HPF is proud to celebrate the Foundation’s impact in Millinocket, ME!
Since 2022, we’ve sponsored local high schoolers for Katahdin research (seniors) and trailwork (sophomores/juniors) via the Baxter Youth Conservation Corps (BYCC).
The BYCC is a job training and service-learning opportunity for youth from the Katahdin region of Maine. Many of these students have summited the peak and are inspiring future mountaineers and conservationists to follow in their footsteps.
Meet our 2025 Highpointer Fellows:
🧑🔬 Aidan Jamieson (Stearns HS ‘24): From 3 years on BYCC trails to studying native brook trout in the Nesowadnehunk Stream watershed! Aidan is currently at Franklin Pierce pursuing environmental science.
🌿 Noelle Shearer (Junior, homeschooled): Back for her 2nd BYCC season as a Highpointer Fellow, she is diving into wildlife ecology through University of Maine camera surveys. She follows a strong BYCC family legacy with her older siblings Anne and Elliott being former members, along with her sister-in-law Emma who was an inaugural Highpointer Fellow in 2022!
We are grateful for partners like and . Here’s to fostering the next generation of stewards in the region!
