We're a week-and-a-half away from one of the most important courses you'll ever take as a filmmaker!
Are you serious about making film your career? Do you love writing and filmmaking but don't know how to get your foot in the door? Do you have an extremely ambitious script or movie idea that you don't know how to leverage for the capital you need to make it a reality?
This course is specifically designed for you. Over 3 weekends, I will teach you how to turn the first 10 pages of your script into a trap that will lock a studio executive or investor in to the rest of your story.
Most scripts get skimmed for 2-3 minutes before getting discarded. After 3 Saturdays with me, no one will be able to put your script down.
I am providing this course at no-cost to CTV members, and CTV membership is only $12 for a whole year, and it gets access to all of our courses as well as our huge stockpile of filmmaking equipment!

50 years after ‘Cuckoo’s Nest,’ Oregonians reflect on a film that changed mental health conversations The Salem-filmed classic premiered in the U.S. on Nov. 19, 1975. To mark its anniversary, three Oregonians revisit its history and impact.
Folks,
We gotta stop with the next-day check out requests at CTV. There's no way you have a surprise shoot—you knew you were making a movie more than a day ago. Plan in advance and remember that the people checking out your gear are unpaid volunteers. If knowing when or what gear you need is an ongoing issue, please attend my pre-production bootcamp the next time it’s offered.

"SHOWGIRLS"
Tuesday, September 30, 2025. 6 p.m.
-------
So bad it’s perfect. So wrong it’s transcendent. So naked it’s… Showgirls. The film that set the new standard for the silliest s*x scene to ever take place in water.
To celebrate one of the most jaw-dropping cult phenomena in cinema history, CTV invites you to experience Showgirls (1995) like you never have before—with the hysterically brilliant audio commentary by writer David Schmader, dubbed “The Greatest Movie Ever Made”.
This isn’t just a screening—it’s an annotated crash course in glorious cinematic failure.
“Showgirls triumphs in that every single person involved in the making of the film, from the writers, actors, gaffers, every single one of them is making the worst possible decision at every possible time, and it’s this incredible density of failure that makes Showgirls sublime.”
Adapted from Schmader’s cult live screenings in the late ’90s and early 2000s, this commentary lovingly dissects the film’s psychotic dialogue, feral performances, berserk editing, and aggressive lack of subtlety. From Nomi Malone’s terrifying hamburger tantrums to the infamous pool thrashing that defies physics and human anatomy, Showgirls becomes a sacred text—one that’s been misunderstood, maligned, and finally reclaimed as camp canon.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a repeat worshipper at the altar of Verhoeven, this version of Showgirls is a masterclass in how not to make a movie—and why we’re so grateful someone did.
129 minutes. Erotic Drama/Comedy/Camp Classic. Rated NC-17 (and oh, it earns it).
