RootCraft Botanicals
Learning to identify, ethically source, and sustainably work with plants right in your kitchen, backyard, or nearby natural area is far more impactful than buying expensive, unregulated supplements that some wellness influencer insists you need.
When you build a relationship with the plant in its context, your practice becomes rooted and deeply empowering.
If you want to move beyond surface-level fluff and truly understand how and when to work with these plants to create practical, accessible support...
The 2026 RootCraft Seasonal Intensive starts Feb 1st and is open for enrollment!

How do you celebrate the Solstice? ⬇️
This is just one way I'm able to feel more connected to nature's cycles and remind myself that I, too, am a part of nature. Not something separate from it. (Which can be really hard to feel given the current state of the world.)
Modern times focus so much on the light. On the positive. On growth. On productivity...
But without darkness, without rest, without internal reflection - there can not be any of those things.
Embracing the darkness during the Solstice is one way to honor that balance and acknowledge that it isn't something to fear.
It's something to honor. We've made it through half of the darkest days of the year. They may not be their brightest yet, but the Solstice promises that one day they will be again 🖤
I share all my other seasonal rituals in the Seasonal Herbal Coven, which is all full for Winter but you can join us as once we get closer to Spring 🌱
❄️❄️❄️Comment SOLSTICE and I'll send you my post:
Winter Solstice Micro-Rituals to Thrive (Not Just Survive) this Season
Hi I'm Jovie 👋🏻Here's my story ⬇️
If you're new here, this is how the last 5 years of my life happened!
I started learning about herbalism in 2011 because, honestly, I didn't have access to healthcare.
I was blown away when I saw that herbs actually worked for real life situations, so went back to college ( I already had a degree in biology) to study herbalism, then opened my first online apothecary selling body care products that I LOVED making.
Unfortunately, I started buying into all the wellness rhetoric that demonized anything that wasn't "all natural", and saw first hand the slippery slope into conspiracy theories and the right pipeline.
I developed an eating disorder (orthorexia) and became obsessed with achieving perfection when it came to my diet, exercise, and lifestyle. It got so bad that I ended up needing emergency abdominal surgery, which was my biggest fear at the time.
After that, I became so put off by the whole wellness industry, that I quit the apothecary entirely for five years and focused on just growing the plants and getting to know them for myself (while bartending to pay the bills).
In 2020, even though it terrified me, I decided to get vaccinated bc it felt like the right thing to do, and the rest is history.
I've been able to achieve the biggest dream of my life, and I still struggle with depression and obsessive compulsive disorder. I go back and forth between being in complete disbelief that I get to live my dream life... and wanting to sell everything and move into a simple townhouse that isn't so much work or so isolated.
I'm trying to learn to rebuild community, because even though I show that you don't HAVE to have a partner to do what I do, I don't believe anyone should do any of this alone.
This year I want to finally start hosting events out here, because it's way to incredible out here on the property to just keep it all to my self.
Anyway, that's just a little of my story. If you've read this far, I'd love to hear what brought you to find me, if my story resonates with you, and what you'd like to see more of in my posts this next year!

🌲Evergreen Aroma Spray Recipe⬇️
if you want to learn more ways to make your own aromas that are safer, more affordable, and more sustainable than essential oils:
Comment EVERGREEN for a link to my workshop!
INSTRUCTIONS:
This is totally customizable except for the concentrations of liquid you want to use... It needs to be strong enough to preserve the extract. Too dilute and it will go bad quickly.
-Fill any size glass jar you like all the way up with evergreen sprigs of your choice
(I used Doug fir and rosemary but you can use any safe/edible confer you have access to responsibly forage)
-Leave room for citrus peels if you like, you can also add a few cinnamon sticks or cloves
-Fill the jar to the top with either 5% distilled white vinegar, 50% + (100 proof+) vodka, or 70%+ isopropyl alcohol
-Put a lid on the jar (line it with parchment paper first if using vinegar and a metal lid)
-Label the jar with the date and what's in it
-Put the jar in a cool dry dark place for 4 weeks
- Shake it daily
-After 4 weeks, strain and bottle the liquid and compost the plant parts
You can spray this concentrate on surfaces at full strength or dilute it with equal parts water if you prefer.
Use it for countertops, glass, linens, to freshen a room, or for an immediate shift in your mood.
Be careful spraying it on fabric as it may stain depending on what you use. (Test an area first.)
That's it! This is so much safer and "natural" than dropping highly concentrated essential oils into water or vinegar (which does not safely dilute them- only oil and everclear can dilute essential oils)
