Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend the Erie Commodores FC America250 Celebration Match and celebrate an incredible season of soccer right here in Erie. ⚽ And now, the Commodores are headed to the playoffs, earning the #1 seed in the NPSL Great Lakes Conference Playoffs with home-field advantage.

While the regular game season is over, the playoffs are just beginning! Join me tonight as the Erie Commodores take on the Flower City Union at 7:00 PM at Saxon Stadium on the campus of Mercyhurst University. See you there!

Last week, I had the opportunity to join the Inner City Neighborhood Art House's Hooked on Books for Kids reading program. It was a powerful reminder that when we support initiatives like this, we're not just helping kids read, we're helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for success. That's why our Summer of Reading matters and how we move Erie forward, together.

As we wrap up June, there's still plenty of time to get involved this summer! To learn more about free programming, the Summer Recreation Guide, and the Mayor’s Book Club, visit erie.pa.us/summerofreading.

As we prepare for hot weather this week, the City of Erie is opening three cooling centers (open 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM) for residents who need a safe place to get relief from the heat:
📍 Perry Square
📍 Wayne Park (near 1001 Atkins St)
📍 Gridley Park (598 Liberty St)

👉 Interested in helping?
Donations, including water bottles and electrolyte packets, can be dropped off directly at any of the locations listed above.
Volunteers are also welcome to support cooling center operations. Please contact Liz Reyes at 📞 814-870-1201 or 📥 [email protected] if interested.

Please take care of yourself, stay hydrated, and limit time outdoors during peak afternoon hours. Check in on neighbors, especially older adults and anyone without access to cooling. We are so grateful to all of our community partners for stepping up and helping keep our community safe and supported.

Stay cool, stay safe, and take care of each other, Erie.
