So hi. Long time no see. I’ve been gone for almost a year and haven’t created much art, but I’m starting to get back to it.

This is is a series. These are what you might call sketches with my phone camera.

I moved in August and have been regularly caring for our neighbor and close friend’s child pretty regularly since. I thought today about the presence she (the child) has in my home even when she is not physically there. Additionally I thought about the roll of non-family care givers play, especially people like me who actively choose not to have children of their own.

It’s a lot to think about and my thoughts are not fully formed.

I recently submitted these for works about shame to project called Shame Radiant. As someone who makes work about trauma this project intrigued me. Shame to me is often tied to traumatic experiences and it isn’t something I would have thought to look make work about without this project. It’s got me thinking about making more work on the subject.
