Janet Afoakwah received her Master of Public Health degree in 2017 and has since fought to address and advance the overall health of the US African Immigrant community. She is the Executive Director for The United States Coalition for African Immigrant Health Inc. (USCAIH), founded in 2005 under the auspices of the US Office of Minority Health. The organization was established to provide a platform for national and regional conferences on African immigrant health. Each conference attracted state and federal agencies, clinicians, academics, students, and other stakeholders working with the African Immigrant (AI) population. In 2021, USCAIH expanded its mission by establishing itself as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization Coalition to provide a broader platform for engaging stakeholders interested in the African diaspora.
Through her efforts, she and her organization have decided to bring the community into a very needed conversation involving our African Immigrant communities and African diaspora communities, thus creating The UNHEARD presented by USCAIH PODCAST on YouTube.
