Hi friends. A disappointing and frustrating pupdate from Carmelita’s dad .g: our precious Carmelita arrived for her surgery today at Ángel de Juárez and they did bloodwork to make sure she was good to go under anesthesia.
Sadly, her labs showed high kidney values, the lingering presence of her previous pancreatitis and high liver values. The doctor told her dad that considering these values, going under anesthesia was very risky. He recommended a new oral medication treatment plan for 60 days, and then surgery for her hernia after the 60 day treatment.
Isaac and I are both baffled as to why these high values weren’t caught prior; Carmelita is a happy little girl showing no signs of any pain, although we did get her treated for the pancreatitis at West Texas recently. But, we’re not vets and we fully trust the vet’s recommendations so in the meantime, please send all your good juju that the meds work so we can treat her hernia ASAP!
As an aside, Carmelita might have surpassed Nacho as our most sickly Bridge Pup with the most vet visits EVERRRRR. 😭❤️‍🩹
Lastly, thank you for the donations as the estimated $750 for that cost is (almost) completely covered! I’ll keep you pupdated as I hear how she’s doing from her dad Isaac!
We’re rooting for you and love you, Carmelita!!!!
