Last week, three UTEP MBA students, along with faculty and staff from the Hunt College of Business, had the incredible opportunity to share lunch with Jamil Mahuad, former President of Ecuador. During this intimate conversation, Mr. Mahuad reflected on his journey into political leadership, centered on the historic decision to dollarize Ecuador’s economy and the guiding principles that shaped his choices during times of national crisis.

One of the most impactful lessons: success comes from surrounding yourself with individuals whose knowledge and expertise exceed your own. President Mahuad’s humility, coupled with his profound wisdom, provided an unforgettable lesson in governance and leadership.
