🌿 October Reflections: When Marriage Feels Like a Blur

Today is October 26 — and I can hardly believe this month is almost over. It’s been a mix of joy and loss. Some days, my husband will say, “Let’s take a drive to Naples, just to breathe, see the leaves change, and step away for a bit.”

Our lives move fast. Sometimes it all feels like a blur — even marriage.

There was a season when we poured everything into our Power Marriage page — building programs, retreats, and ideas to help couples grow. But over time, Scripture began to convict us:

👉 We cannot help couples who don’t have a united foundation in Christ.

Marriage counseling without the gospel is like trying to fix a broken foundation by repainting the walls. The real problem isn’t just communication, unmet needs, or finances — it’s the heart. Two people can’t be truly one if their hearts aren’t anchored in Jesus.

The disconnect we’ve seen in so many couples is this:
• They want harmony but avoid holiness.
• They want unity but resist submission — both to Christ
and to each other.
• They want love but neglect repentance.

💔 And when the heart isn’t right before God, no “marriage strategy” will last.

But here’s the hope:
The gospel changes everything.
When Christ becomes the center — not the counselor, not the tools, not the “five steps” — transformation begins.

1. Return to the Word together. Read even one Psalm out
loud.
2. Pray for repentance more than romance.
3. Confess your pride and your pain. Stop blaming — start
surrendering.
4. Anchor your identity in Christ, not your spouse.
