𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆!

During a recent site visit, a Terex Vibratory Engineer ran into a familiar challenge. The 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. Material flowed smoothly at the feed end but stalled at discharge, throttling throughput and efficiency.

A visual inspection showed no obvious mechanical failures. On the surface, everything looked fine.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗖® 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 by capturing real‑time data from four synchronized sensors, TRAC delivered a complete picture of the screen’s true operating behavior — measuring stroke, stroke angle, G‑force, and speed at all four corners simultaneously.

The data revealed something the eye couldn’t see:
✔️ Screen motion was symmetric
❌ Operating speed was well below target
❌ G‑forces were significantly under the expected 7 Gs

At just 700 RPM instead of the normal 830 RPM, the screen simply couldn’t generate the energy needed to move near‑size material off the discharge end. The result? Material hang‑up and lost production — even though the screen looked fine.

Having this data, the engineer inspected the drive system and quickly found the root cause: a broken spring in the V‑belt tensioner, allowing belt slip and reduced speed.
