FINALLY!

AFTER THREE YEARS, HUNTING FOR THE BULL WE NAMED “LOPPY”…HE MADE A MISTAKE!

Two years ago, Loppy (named that because one antler was beautiful and huge and the other was much weaker) gave us the slip…over and over again.

Then last year, twice he eluded us, and then on the last day of my hunt, we spotted Loppy across the valley, but I chose not to go after him. There was a caribou bull closer, and I had to get back to Louise.

Loppy’s lucky day.

This year, we found him, lost him, found him and lost him. He was too smart for us…until he wasn’t!

He was so familiar with my call by then that he ignored me, but when Kristian called, he came in on a string!!! Or at least he did, until he hit our trail at 450 yards!

Unfortunately for Loppy, I was carrying my Christensen Arms chambered in 300 PRC, topped with a Leupold VX-6 and loaded with 212-grain Hornady bullets!

So it was pretty much a “chip shot!”

He was so old, his antlers were regressing, but he was still 63 inches wide and his “good” pan was still wavy and magnificent!

“Field to Table” loving! My family, friends, and I will be eating like kings for the next year!

So blessed to be able to be an active participant in Nature’s Continuum!
