Quick PSA: Refrigerant Isn’t Blue!

We’ve been seeing a lot of confusion lately—especially thanks to Google images—so we want to clear something up: Refrigerant is not blue in color.

If you’ve ever opened your mini split and noticed a blue tint inside, that’s not the refrigerant. It’s actually condensation breaking down the ink on the information stickers inside the unit’s plastic casing. Over time, the moisture causes the ink to run, giving off that blue appearance.

We totally get how easy it is to assume otherwise—especially when online sources can be misleading. But rest assured, if your unit is functioning properly, that blue is just cosmetic and doesn’t indicate a refrigerant leak.
