I fix the people stuff leaders don’t have time for | Bridging the gap between leadership & teams | Trust, communication & real momentum

Have an amazing team but feeling frustrated?

06/17/2026

For a long time, I thought shrinking myself was what was expected and what would be rewarded. I was taught being “too much” would earn you eye rolls and put you in a spotlight you didn’t want to be in. So I stayed quiet in rooms where I had something valuable to say because it seemed “easier” to deal with.

I downplayed my experience for years, assuming what came naturally to me was probably just bare minimum. I softened my opinions, especially working in hospitality where “the customer is always right” gets deeply ingrained into you. And I apologized for things I hadn’t even done wrong because I thought I was inconveniencing people simply by being myself and trying to help.

But recently, I have come to realize that shrinking yourself doesn’t actually make other people more comfortable long term. If anything, it actually teaches you to disconnect from yourself 💔

The wild part is, the more I started showing up honestly - speaking clearly, taking up space, sharing ideas, setting boundaries, trusting my voice - the more the right people actually leaned in closer. Turns out authenticity feels a whole lot safer than performance eventually.

So if you’ve been making yourself smaller to keep everyone else comfortable… this might be your reminder to stop and learn to take up more space 🥰

The world does not need another carbon copy of someone who already exists. A lot of people spend years trying to become more professional, more digestible, more polished, and more acceptable, only to slowly disconnect from the very thing that made people connect with them in the first place.

Your magic was never supposed to look like everyone else’s. It often lives in the natural parts of you that cannot be forced or manufactured — your presence, your humor, the way you lead, how deeply you care, your creativity, or your ability to make people feel seen, safe, challenged, or inspired.

There is something incredibly magnetic about people who stop performing and start showing up honestly. People can feel the difference when someone is no longer trying to squeeze themselves into an identity that was never meant for them. The right people will never require you to shrink, flatten, or water yourself down just to earn a seat at the table.

People are starving for realness these days. It's time to bring your own magic 🎩🪄💫

A lot of genuinely good people stay stuck because they were taught to be humble, agreeable, selfless, and careful not to take up too much space.

🤔 So they second-guess themselves
🫣 Downplay their strengths
🧐 Wait for more proof, certainty, or validation

Meanwhile, less qualified people are out here applying, speaking up, pitching ideas, and taking chances simply because they decided they were allowed to try.

Confidence usually doesn’t show up before action. It grows because of action.

Most bold steps feel uncomfortable in the beginning. That's perfectly normal, but remember to take that step anyways. Not the perfect step.

Not the fully figured-out step. Not the step where you suddenly feel 100% confident and fearless first.

Just the first bold step 👣

"There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age." - Sophia Loren

CareerSource Okaloosa Walton has a fantastic program each summer that helps young people prepare for the workforce through education, training, and support.

When I first heard about it, I immediately wanted to be involved.

Growing up in rural North Georgia, I never had anything like this. Nobody sat me down and explained networking, professionalism, workplace communication, personal branding, or how to navigate the insecurities that come with being new to the workforce.

I figured a lot of it out through trial and error.

Even though I had supportive family and friends, I still felt like I was supposed to have the answers on my own. Looking back, I realize how valuable it would have been to have someone pull back the curtain and explain that every interaction, every decision, and every touchpoint helps shape your future and the opportunities that come your way.

In one week, I'll have the opportunity to speak to a room full of ambitious, driven teenagers and share one lesson I wish someone had learned me sooner:

Your name is your reputation, and your reputation creates opportunities.

I'm looking forward to the conversation. 🎤

How are we already here?

The days are longer. The calendars are fuller. Summer plans are popping up left and right. And somehow... we’re halfway through the year already.

If you're anything like me, it’s really easy to fill our days with more. More appointments. More projects. More commitments. More busy.

But was busy really the goal?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve caught myself wondering...

👭 Have I made more time for family and friends?
🔋 Have I created room for quiet, reflection, and the things that actually refill me?
☕ Am I doing more of what I said mattered… or just more?

Sometimes we get so focused on moving mountains that we forget to look around and ask if we even like the view anymore.

💭 What has brought you genuine joy so far this year?
💭 What have you accidentally given too much energy to?
💭 What deserves more room in the next six months?

The year isn’t over. You have a whole half a year left to readjust and realign ✨

But here’s the part nobody talks about: Your focus doesn’t just shape your productivity. It shapes your peace.

If your attention is constantly pulled toward problems, pressure, unfinished tasks, and everyone else’s expectations… eventually your nervous system starts living there too.

A lot of high performers are mentally carrying tomorrow before today is even over.

➡️ Thinking about the next meeting.
➡️ The next responsibility.
➡️ The next fire to put out.
➡️ The next thing they forgot.

Meanwhile, the parts of life they actually care about most are getting whatever energy is left over at the end of the day.

Remember: your attention is quietly building your life in real time, and you likely have more control over your focus than you give yourself credit for 👀

When you ignore your goals, life moves past you at warp speed. Years later, you look back and wonder what happened. How did you miss this?

A few frameworks from which to choose:

🟡 SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound

🟢 FAST - frequently discussed, ambitious, specific and transparent

🔵 EPIC - extraordinary, powerful, impactful and courageous

🟣 WOOP - wish, outcome, obstacle, plan

There is no wrong or right way to do this, folks. Just do it, be consistent, and do not give up 🙌

I'm a week late in posting. Think the social media police will notice? 🤔🚓

I have good reason though. Last week, I attended my first ever introverted leadership conference. Normally, after conferences, I have this long list of things to do, people to reach out to, and yada, yada, yada. But this time, I intentionally moved slow so I could soak in the experience.

So, yes, "the ball got dropped" if you want to call it what it is. But I chose this ball - the one that wasn't the highest priority. You see, the old me would have packed my schedule, worked in the airport, made sure everything on my list was seen as a priority, and exhausted myself in the process.

But it's 2026, and I'm actually doing what I preach to others. I'm sacrificing things that don't need to fill my day or zap my energy. I don't want to be known any longer as the girl who did it all and worked all the time. That's not a cute trophy.

So here we are. It's May 9th, 2026. A new month. Another reminder to check in:

🗺️ If you stay on this trajectory in which you are headed, will you wind up closer to where you planned by the end of the year?

🛑 What do you need to scratch of the list?

🔁 Anything to add or replace?

🧘♀️ Or maybe it's time to ask yourself: am I exactly where I'm supposed to be?

I can spot a great leader in 60 seconds. No résumé needed. Just show me their team. 👀

A team that moves with energy, delivers consistent experiences, and actually wants to be there? That's not luck. That's a founder who chose people over ego.

The businesses that win long-term aren't built on one brilliant person, ya'll! They're built on cultures where everyone rises.

"We rise together" will always outlast "I arose alone."

What does rising together look like in your world? 🔥
