Here’s a lovely and exceptionally clean 2.22ct Peridot that we cut for a client. 🍏

This material was sourced from the Xinjiang region of China and is found within thin seams of volcanic basalt. 🌋

We love the distinct facet doubling visible when looking through the crown of the gem. This is due to the high birefringence (or double refraction) of peridot. This is caused by the splitting of a single light ray into two, each with vibration directions oriented mutually perpendicular, traveling at different velocities. 🤓
