I’m excited to be running for re-election to County Commissioner! My election in 2018 was the honor of a lifetime and I have taken the trust you put in me seriously. I committed my whole self to serving this community that raised me. I resigned from my job as the District Manager for Blackwell Oil and as the president of Scraps-to-Soil so that I could dedicate myself to serving this community. I’m
proud to report that I have worked 50+ hours per week in your service for the last four years. I grew up in Idaho Springs and have spent my adult life volunteering and working all over the county. I have deep roots in this community. I’m able to appreciate the different issues and challenges each neighborhood faces as well as the things that affect all of us and must be faced with a united front. I’ve always had a passion for community service that was given to me by my mother. She has been a preschool teacher at Carlson for the last twenty-six years and did home based childcare for thirteen years before that. We were not a well-to-do family by any means, but my mom always found the time and energy to contribute to our community regardless. And I was always along for the ride. I could be found playing in the corner during meetings, helping at community clean-ups or tugging at her arm as she talked with a neighbor in the grocery store about the latest initiative she was a part of. That passion solidified for me as I finally began to heal from the grief of the tragic loss of my brother. I had met the love of my life and could finally appreciate the good things that life had to offer again. I began to reflect on the ways that people in this community supported me through the toughest time in my life. It was time to come out of my shell and start participating in the community again. I co-founded a non-profit with my wife and cousin and served as it’s president for ten years. I started going to community meetings and volunteer events. When I graduated Regis University with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, I was hired to revive the Georgetown Market as it’s manager. I threw myself into the job with a passion for bringing a grocery back to the Western part of the county. I put that same passion into my job as a County Commissioner. This is the best opportunity of my life to make a positive impact in the community I love. I wake up every morning and go to bed every night thinking about how to make the lives of the people in this community better. There is a long way to go. I am proud of the work I did in my first term and excited to keep going!
