when i woke up to this text from my brother i was speechless. he always leaves me in awe with his words that are full of unconditional love + support. 💕

i am so lucky to have this level of familial support. with my brother it has always been there. i can’t say the same for all of my family but i’m healing + we’re growing. seeing others with familial support always makes me cry.

for a lot of us chosen family is our support which is a main reason la conextion exists. to heal, to build + co-create for, with, + by qtibipoc.

this text was another reminder of why i do the work that i do + why i’m so committed to healing. healing myself has given friends, family, + community an example that it is possible.

i am so happy to be sober, to be gay, to be q***r, to be on this journey of rejecting binaries + intoxication culture + colonial constructs that don’t fit into how fluidly i navigate this world.

my sexuality was the main reason i started drinking at the age of twelve + a major motivator for getting sober at twenty-two.

i love being present to experience every bit of this q***r life that i tried to hide for so many years.
