Hi Neighbors of Castle Rock 👋 Today is the last day to collect signatures to oppose the Pine Canyon’s current unincorporated development plan. Currently, they’ve collected about 400 signatures.
Contact me if you’re interested in signing- I’ve got a copy you can sign! You can also email the Douglas County Commissioners to express your opposition.
The meeting is this Tuesday @ 2:30 pm. They are saving the Pine Canyon topic for last- so even if your going be late- COME.

The proposed Pine Canyon development will be considered by the Douglas County Commissioners at their Board of Commissioner’s meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2:30 p.m. Castle Rock residents are encouraged to attend the meeting in person or virtually to provide comments on the development proposal.

The meeting will be held in the Commissioner's Hearing Room, 100 Third St. Instructions for commenting remotely during the live meeting are available here: https://www.douglas.co.us/board-county-commissioners/meetings/business-meeting-public-hearings/.

If you are unable to attend the Sept. 10 meeting, feedback can be emailed ahead of the meeting to Commissioners Abe Laydon, George Teal and Lora Thomas at [email protected].

The proposed Pine Canyon development in Douglas County would bring 1,800 homes and 600,000 square feet of commercial space into the center of Castle Rock. Here are just a few reasons why Town Council should oversee the development of the property:
1. The development would construct an unneeded new standalone sewage treatment plant facility within 460 yards of Castle Rock residences, bringing with it odors and potential overflows
2. The development would cause daily depletion of Denver Basin Groundwater – Castle Rock’s long-term water supply source in times of drought – as no renewable water sources are proposed for the project
3. Pine Canyon residents would drive daily on Castle Rock’s roads without paying into Town projects, which is a requirement of building a home in Castle Rock
4. Despite being located in the middle of Town, the development would not pay its fair share toward Castle Rock infrastructure improvements, which would create a financial burden for the Town and its residents
