It is a piece of property, approved by local government which provides a safe legal place for unsheltered people to sleep, cook,store their things and call their own. It has toilets, showers, water, a kitchen and trash pick up. It is governed by the residents with oversight by the sponsoring group, in this case that group is the Denton Basic Services Center Project. It will be patterned after the villages described in Tent City Urbanism by Andrew Heben Our goal is always to bring dignity, worth and real solutions to our unhoused neighbors in ways that are in keeping with their goals and needs not a system or philosophy.
