Who We Are! The Sliding K has been active in the reining horse industry for over 30 years. We strongly believe in giving our two year olds a solid foundation on which to start their reining careers. We take the extra time to ensure our young stars are started quietly and correctly before they move into the demanding training program required for a reiners, ropers or whatever their next career choi

Missy is a beautiful little sorrel mare that is broke and rides around cute. She is a very pretty mover. She has a nice trot and a fabulous rocking chair lope. She picks up her leads and lopes circles. She has a naturally level head carriage. She has tons of talent and ability so the sky is the limit on what you could develop her into. She has all the components to take the next training steps. Take her to the roping pen to make your next breakaway or heel horse. If your a barrel racer she could go that route as well. Or leave her as she is and you’ll have a cool little horse to have fun on.

Missy has already got a lot of miles under her belt riding on the trails. She’s been ridden all over the Fort Worth stockyards. She rides down beside the interstate with the traffic flying by and not phased by it. She will ride with others but she is just as perfect riding out alone. She’s been ridden around ATVs and equipment. She has also been ridden at the National Grasslands of Decatur.

She’s been used to gather and pen cattle. You can push cows up the alley on her and load trucks. You can check your fences on her. She’s used to dogs running all around her. She is not scared of our goats, donkeys, llamas, miniature cows or even the resident pet pigs.

This is a really nice little mare you don’t wanna miss out on if you’re looking for a prospect to mold your own way. She’s really sweet and easy to get along with. She does all the things like you would expect a horse to do - stand for the farrier, bathe, tie and load. You can walk right up to her in the field and catch her with no issue.

Meet Heidi!
This darling little girl is on the hunt for her new BFF and partner in crime. She’s ready for whatever adventure you take her on. She’s been ridden by all ages and has proven to be a safe and reliable mount for all.

She rides in the arena and will WTL as asked. She picks up her leads. She loves to track the dummy and live steers around. You can carry a flag on her. She is a great mover and carries her head level with the saddle horn. She’s broke in the face and aims to please. She rides soft and supple two handed but will also cruise around one handed. She’s been ridden in English tack also.

It’s trail riding season and Heidi says let’s go!! She’s a true steady Eddie and ready to go anywhere and everywhere you point her. Over bridges, over logs, through anything. She rides right through the water without batting an eye. She will manuever up and down hills and gulleys. She will pick her way through cactus and briars. She’s brave and confident to ride out alone. She’s also perfectly fine to ride in a group. She’s road and traffic safe. She’s been ridden through the big city Fort Worth stockyards. The crowds, the noise, the sirens, the loud motorcycles, nothing bothers her. You can put a little one on her and pony beside your horse.

Heidi has proven herself to be an asset on the ranch for a pawpaw to gather and move his cows. She’s been used to check fences. You can even ride her in the pens and alley to load trucks. She’s not bothered if you use the sorting flag on her. She’s been used to gather and pen the broodmares. The kids can go swimming in the pond on her in the summer.

If you’re on the search for very nice but still affordable horse in this crazy market here she is. She has great manners. She stands for the farrier. She acts like a lady to be clipped and bathed. She will stand tied for hours. She stands to be tacked up. She stands for mounting and dismounting. You can use mounting steps to get on her. She loads and hauls like you expect a good horse to. AND she’s very pretty to look at!

I’m so so sad 😢😢😢!!! 💔💔 condolences to family, friends & all who know him!!! God be with all! We know he’s in heaven beside the Lord, he will be more than missed here on earth!!! Such a loving friend, always there to help no matter what! He never said no, although there were 100’s or 1000’s of us needing his help in all parts of the horse industry and outside of it, such a great Christian, family man as well. 💔❤️‍🩹💔❤️‍🩹💔

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Dr. John McCarroll.

Dr. McCarroll was not only an exceptional veterinarian, but also a lifelong friend to so many in our industry. He facilitated countless miracles over the years, caring for some of our very best horses with an unmatched level of dedication, precision, and heart.

Through every situation, Dr. McCarroll always had a plan — one that put the horse first. His knowledge, compassion, and calm presence brought comfort to every owner, trainer, and horseman he worked with.

For decades, he stood by our program through every chapter — always steady, kind, and committed to the well-being of every horse that walked into his care. His legacy lives on not only through the horses he helped, but through the amazing friendships he built across our industry.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire team at Equine Medical Associates.

Thank you, Dr. McCarroll, for everything. You will be deeply missed. 🤍
