STRIIIIKE! 🎳 Some congratulations are in order for the Powell High School Special Olympics Unified Bowling Team! They are in Minnesota right now for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, and they are up on the podium!
According to Powell High School Principal Beth Mooney, the girls team won gold, the boys team won bronze, and Yenny Juarez won 5th in individual!
The Unified Bowling Team is an awesome opportunity. Special Olympics athletes are paired up with "typical" students to join forces and compete in various sports. Powell is just really great at bowling!
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some of these athletes and their coach/teacher, Tami Smith, in September 2025 when I did a story on them for our 10Tailgate series.
