Coaching isn’t just about goals and action steps. It’s about people — their stories, their hopes, their fears, and the moments when they’re ready for something new.

During the ICF Coast‑to‑Coast pro‑bono challenge, I had the chance to sit with three individuals at very different stages of life and career. Yet each one showed up with a willingness to explore what’s possible.

That’s the magic.

⭐ A reconnection.
⭐ A brand‑new connection.
⭐ A young professional stepping into her future.

All three left with a plan.
I left reminded that when we create space for others, we grow too.

Coaching is a partnership — and these conversations were a gift.

Employees rarely say:
“I’m leaving because there’s low trust.”

They say:
“The expectations keep changing.”
“I don’t know where I stand.”
“Decisions happen behind closed doors.”
“I don’t see a future here.”

People can handle hard work.
What wears them down is uncertainty.

When priorities constantly shift and communication feels inconsistent, employees stop feeling confident about their future in the organization.

People stay where they experience:
⭐clarity
⭐consistency
⭐development
⭐and confidence in leadership

Culture is shaped long before someone submits a resignation letter.

What’s one thing leaders do that helps people feel more confident and committed at work?

Some teams don’t look dysfunctional from the outside.

Meetings happen.
Projects move forward.
People stay professional.

But underneath, there’s friction.

You hear it in comments like:

“I thought we already decided this.”
“Who actually owns this?”
“Why are we revisiting this again?”

💡Over time, teams become cautious instead of collaborative.

Communication gets filtered.
Decision-making slows down.
Energy shifts from solving problems to managing tension.

The issue usually isn’t talent.
It’s a lack of clarity, alignment, and consistent follow-through.

Healthy teams create environments where people can move forward together with confidence.

What’s one phrase you hear on teams that usually signals deeper issues underneath the surface?
