Commissioner Darrell Hale

I wanted to share an item from the Commissioners Court on Monday that is impactful in a few ways. As we move towards having new Commissioners on the Court, where we could, we put Michael Slaughter into future appointments where we could. Commissioner Duncan Webb rolled off of the RTC as well. I rolled off the Executive Board at NCTCOG in advance of the summer general assembly.

Duncan Webb was a vocal supporter and voter to save DART in Collin County. They had a last-minute wrangling to add $105M in funds to transit in Tarrant and Denton county at the expense of the region. It is questionable whether it was legal. Funds that could have been used for collector roads and above and for congestion mitigation (CMAQ and Surface Transportation Block Grants). I know that there is a LOT of congestion on our roads and to see money get sent to other counties at Collin County's expense is frustrating to me. I will share more as I get more details from RTC staff. I am saddened that the voters of Collin County didn't get a vote after all on DART.

Collin County has accepted an offer by a vote of 3-2 today to sell the Collin County Adventure Camp to Circle Ten Council of Boy Scouts contingent upon a restriction being placed on the property for use as indicated in their offer.

I'm excited that it will continue to be used for outdoor activities and used in the coming years for the benefit of Collin County adventures.
