Trauma Informed Ministry is now Trauma Ministry. We simplified our name and have launched our website at www.traumaministry.net. In addition to streamlining our name which clearly lets you know hat we are about, we dropped “Informed” from our name because reports and research have come back saying some organizations that claimed to be trauma Informed were not acting in a trauma Informed way in their work.

Needless to say, that is not us. Just being trauma Informed is not enough. Such a critically needed ministry needs to be skilled, compassionate and resilient. We teach Story Listening which is one of the most powerful and necessary skills in Trauma Care. This is different from storytelling or narrative work. The sills in Story Listening enable caregivers to hear cries for help even before the survivor is consciously aware of their own need. The skills assist the caregiver in leading survivors to an aha! moment of healing where there is an incredible release of emotions and energy for healing.

Contact us for training opportunities in Story Listening. [email protected].

Blessings. See you at our new page and website.

I have spent over nine years studying and working in the field of trauma, abuse, and neglect. Each persons story is significant in so many ways. No one Trauma is worse or less than another’s.

At the same time, reading Escape from Camp 14 has put me at the most negative end of any spectrum of trauma, abuse, and neglect. The book is the account of the only known person born in a North Korean prisoner camp who has escaped and lived to tell about it. His story has been corroborated by defected prison guards and other “outsider” who were sent there. North Korea claims the place doesn’t even exist.

Should Freedom ever come to the North Korean people, the effort to work with them toward healing will be a Holy Spirit sized work. They do not know, literally, love, forgiveness, God. The dictator who created the closed State is treated and revered as their supreme being whose impact lives on beyond their dear.

They barely know what even “daily bread” is as they live on a sub subsistent diet, near the precipice of generational malnutrition, chronic health issues, starvation, and death from the added hard labor.

Imagine spending every evening after hard, enforced labor and a tiny meal in extreme self-criticism for what you should have done differently or better that day.

They know no friendships, having been taught to snitch on everyone else or risk extreme punishment or even death for failure to do so.

Join me in praying for the North Koran’s who live under the most extreme oppression on earth. Let’s pray for their liberation. And for those whose lives on earth have been destroyed and killed, join them in praying Revelation 6:10.
