What once started as a simple means to honor family history, Hidden History DFW uncovers forgotten sites of Dallas that were instrumental in developing one of the largest & vibrant African American communities.

Memorial day is approaching and Black history is the lead into its history.

BLACK HISTORY IS 365.

African Americans celebrated MEMORIAL DAY long before it was an official holiday.

Harvard University uncovered this HIDDEN HISTORY in the late 1990s. Historians learned about a Memorial Day commemoration organized by a group of freed Black slaves less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered in 1865.
